AI Product Tagging

AI Product Tagging

VideoPoint's AI detects products visible in your videos and automatically tags them, making videos instantly shoppable. You can also add or adjust tags manually.

How automatic tagging works

When you add a video to a shoppable widget, VideoPoint's AI analyzes the video content and matches visible products to items in your Shopify catalog. Products are tagged automatically so shoppers can click through to view or buy them.

This works with all video sources: AI Studio videos, imported social content, and uploaded videos.

Manual tagging

You can always add, remove, or adjust product tags manually:

  1. Select a video in your Shoppable Video dashboard.
  2. Click Edit Tags.
  3. Search your catalog and add the products you want to tag.
  4. Adjust tag placement if needed.
  5. Save.

Manual tagging is useful when the AI misses a product or when you want to tag related products that are not visually shown in the video.

Auto-add rules

Auto-add rules automatically assign new videos to the right widgets based on product tags. For example, you can set a rule that routes any video tagged with products from your "Summer Collection" to your homepage Highlights widget.

This reduces manual work as you add new content. Set up the rules once, and new videos flow to the right places automatically.

Best practices

  • Review AI-generated tags before publishing, especially for the first few videos. This helps you understand how well the automatic tagging works with your catalog.
  • Tag featured products generously. If a video shows a complete outfit, tag all visible items, not just the main piece.
  • Use auto-add rules to keep your widgets fresh without manual effort as you produce new content.
